Allotments are a space where nature and humans may interact most, the robins wait for us to turn the soil revealing worms and grubs for an easy meal, the pigeons peck at the seeds we sow, the mice hide in the compost heap and under the tarp we lay to prepare the beds for spring and in turn the fox can find a meal. We work together to grow produce, each of us bring a different set of skills to manage the plot.
Capturing both humans and creatures visiting the allotment on the trail camera link them together into the web of organisms that use allotments.
It reduces the separation between human and creature, the trail camera isn’t used purely for wildlife. It shows the close symbiotic relationship we share with wildlife in our growing spaces, the various ways in which visitors to the allotment interact and benefit from the space.
